EDUCATIONAL FREEDOM OF CHOICE RESOLUTION
November 24, 2009
WHEREAS, it is the fundamental right and responsibility of American parents, and not the American government, to determine and direct the education of their children,
AND WHEREAS, the current public education system possesses a monopoly on education tax dollars,
AND WHEREAS, the tax dollars used to educate American children belong to American parents and citizens, and NOT the American government,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Barron County Republican Party does support the right of parents to educate their children publicly, privately, or home school, as they see fit, without interference from the government,
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Barron County Republican Party does call for and support local, state, and federal legislation mandating that parents of children from preschool to grade twelve, who wish to educate their children outside of the public education system, be given tax refunds, not vouchers for said education. These amounts shall be capped at the current local public school system total dollars spent per student(s). These amounts also shall not be hindered by said parent’s choice of educational materials/schools, whether they be secular, religious, or otherwise.
